Montana Ave Artwalk & Music Festival
Looking for things to do around Santa Monica this week? Montana Avenue is holding its annual Artwalk event this Thursday night 7/18 from 5 to 9pm. Stroll along 10 charming blocks in Santa Monica's quaint shopping district and explore some of the most creative local artists in the city. Live music will be spilling out onto the sidewalks too for a festive evening event. Grab your significant other or make it a girl's night out and stroll from 7th Street up to 16th Street along Montana and take in a little culture, stop for a quick bite at one of our local outdoor restaurants, and enjoy the warm Summer night. At Stacia, my shop at 808 11th Street at the corner of Montana, we'll be hosting a Sample Sale event and showcasing encaustic painter, Robin Tripaldi's vibrant, textural work. I was attracted to her paintings because of the layers of texture and rich colors and her unique usage of beeswax as her choice of medium. The encaustic process of painting is very rare and not a lot of artist specialize in this technique, or at least not since good 'ol Robert Rauschenberg. My favorite artist since Parson's days is Rauschenberg, who dabbled in this style of painting for awhile using layers of beeswax to create texture and rich colors in his collages. Robin, one of the Ten Women Gallery artists, will be displaying her fabulous work along 11th Street and in our 1030 Montana Avenue window. Stop by and take a look and learn all about her style of painting and process. Grab some great Stacia deals and enjoy a sip of our wine spritzer to get your night started. See you there! xoxoStacy
